Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Causes of Insomnia Although sleep is an essential part of life for many people a good night's sleep is elusive. Insomnia, the most common sleep disorders is the difficulty of falling asleep, waking frequently at night, waking up too early, or just the feeling that sleep is not restful. The brain has an internal clock that controls the pace of the day. Small areas in the brainstem and hypothalamus is responsible for telling the rest of the brains of bedtime. These areas may be more active during sleep in people with insomnia. Insomnia is a disease in itself or a symptom of any number of other medical problems, depression, chronic pain. Common medications and nonprescription prescription can also cause insomnia. Stress, driven by major life events as a tragic loss, marriage, job change, or an important exam, can cause insomnia. It may also be the result of sleeping in new environments, such as a hotel. With this type of sleep disorder, sleep tends to return to normal when power is removed or the person learns to deal with. Other things that can disrupt sleep are: * Noise, odor, light, and temperature extremes * A partner who snores or an uncomfortable bed sleeping * Concerns about safety at home * Ensure a relative, who wakes up frequently at night * Put a high altitude Insomnia can be caused by poor sleep hygiene, including: * The use of caffeine, tobacco or alcohol before bed near * Depending on the exercise or at bedtime mental * Frequent changes in bedtime or wake-up time * Frequent naps during the day * Spending too much time in bed, doing homework or watching television. The stress of insomnia can turn into a chronic problem. A person with insomnia may try "very hard" to sleep. He or she can be more tense and excited. This, in turn, the fear of not sleeping, creating a vicious circle.
