JailBreak/Unlock iOS 4.0 Iphone 3G (no 3GS)


The new iOS 4.0 has been released by Apple and with it comes the redsn0w update from Dev Team

redsn0w can now jailbreak and hacktivate iOS 4.0 for iPhone3G (3GS cooming soon)





Current (still beta) version is 0.9.5b5 and at present only works for with 3G/2G

Update: new beta version that fixes APN and MMS problems: if you have one of these please jB again with this version

Instructions (only for 3G at the moment):

- download redsn0w and unzip it

- download the latest iiOS 4.0 ipsw from Apple:

- update your iPhone 3G to the latest iOS 4.0 via iTunes (you will need iTunes 9.2). If you want you can choose restore and use the ipsw file you just downloaded. Otherwise just follow the normal iTunes procedure

- start redsn0w



- browse and locate the ipsw you downloaded. Click open

- in the options screen that will apppear, you must select Cydia. All the rest is not necessary and it's up to you to select or not (multitasking is not advised on a 3G since it's too slow).



- follow the instructions on screen and connect your iPhone in DFU mode

- wait for redsn0w to finish the process. When it's done press the Finish button

- iPhone will reboot and all is done


If needed you can now unlock your iPhone using UltraSn0w (install from Cydia):
UNLOCK ultrasn0w v0.9.3

Works with basebands: 04.26.08\ 05.11.07\ 05.12.01\ 05.13.04

Add repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia sources and install ultrasn0w

i just unlock my iphone 3gs on fw 3.1.3

3GS:

- You can now unlock your phone when you are using 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 no matter what baseband you have by installing ultrasn0w through cydia

- You should not yet update on iOS4, because there is no jailbreak for the moment, but it will be available in a few days."




NB: remember once you have done the JB to start Cydia and let it update and reorganize.
